There is a show called 'Tropic of Cancer' that has been running on BBC Two for several weeks now. The presenter, Simon Reeve, journeys around the world along the Tropic of Cancer, highlighting the countries and communities that lie along it.

Cuban Dance Troupe to take the UK by storm

Danza Contemporanea de Cuba - described as "Cuba’s premier contemporary dance troupe" by The Times - launches a UK tour with a performance in Newcastle next week (good to see not everything is focussed on London). The dance troupe - founded in 1959 and rarely seen outside Cube despite the world fame - fuse contemporary dance, ballet, AfroCaribbean and Spanish dance.

UK Immigrant school kids invited by Michele Obama to White House

What a way to spend your half term.

Several high school students of foreign descent from London who wrote winning essays on the SS Empire Windrush (the ship that brought the first large group of Caribbean immgrants to the UK in 1948) were awarded with a fully paid trip to visit Michelle Obama at the White House.

To celebrate Black History Month, they had written essays about the experiences of African and Caribbean immigrants in the UK. During their visit they got a chance to read excerpts of their essays to the First Lady.

Michael Dixon disappeared while on vacation in Costa Rica. He was last seen on 18 October. His hotel room was found undisturbed and all of his belongings are accounted for. Please help us find him!
